昔は出会いの場は少なかった。だから狭い世界で出会った人と、多少のことは目をつむって暮らしてきた。昔の大人は我慢強かった。世界が狭いがゆえに、そこで生きて行くしかないことをよく知っていた。狭い世界は、15年や20年も人生を送れば一通りのものが見られた。その世界の外側があることは認識してても、届くものではなかった。好奇心は失われ、黙々と生きる日々を送ることができた。

いま、世界は事実上の無限に広がっている。人々との出会いはいくらでもある。聞いてすらもらえなかった話を聞いてくれる人々にもどんどん出会える。

住みたいところに住み、食べたいものを食べ、寝たいところで寝る。そんなのもそう難しい話ではなくなった。

広がりすぎた世界にいると、好奇心の満足することがない。飽きることがない。だって世界は無限だし。

好奇心を失うことが大人になることだった時代は、そこで終りを告げる。昔の大人から見れば、いつまでたっても子供のままに見えるだろう。落ち着くことがない。だってまだまだ新しいものが見えるし。

どう考えても若者論より「大人論」のほうが必要ですという記事。この内容には大きく共感するものがある。無限の時代に生きる我々は、新しい大人像を模索する必要がある。
